# 5) Instrument screen overview

Your instrument features several screens that can be accessed using the **left and right buttons**.

Navigation is circular: after the last screen, the instrument automatically returns to the first.

The **center button** allows you to perform different actions depending on the current screen (mute the sound, enter a menu, save a position, change a setting, etc.).

**Top information bar**

The bar located at the top of the screen continuously displays key information about the instrument status:

**Flight recording:**\
the airplane icon indicates whether a flight is currently being recorded.

**Bluetooth:**

* no icon: Bluetooth disabled
* blinking icon: Bluetooth enabled and waiting for connection
* steady icon: instrument connected

**Sound status:**\
indicates whether the variometer sound is active or muted.

**GPS reception (GPS models only):**

* blinking bars: synchronization in progress
* steady bars: reception active
* the more bars displayed, the better the reception

⚠️ **Important note:** The first GPS fix after a long shutdown or a significant change in location may take up to **10 minutes**. It must be performed outdoors. We recommend turning on your instrument a few minutes before takeoff (during your pre-flight check) until GPS reception is established.

**Battery status:**\
indicates the current battery level.

**Screen number:**\
indicates the number of the currently displayed screen.

#### **Customizable flight screens**

The first screens are the **flight screens**. They display the information you have configured (vario, altitude, distance, glide ratio, etc.).

You can configure up to **5 different flight screens** using the screen configurator (see corresponding section).

Pressing the **center button** from these screens allows you to **enable or mute the variometer sound**. This feature is useful when you want to fly temporarily in silence, for example during a glide, an approach, or in turbulent conditions.

⚠️ **Important note:** These screens can automatically switch during flight if you have defined a **“glide”** and/or **“thermal”** screen when customizing your layout (see corresponding section).

### Position recording (GPS only)

The next screen allows you to **record your position**.

Press and hold the **center button** until you hear the confirmation sound to save your current position.

The instrument will then provide:

* the GPS coordinates of the recorded point,
* the distance from this position,
* the altitude gain or loss relative to this point,
* the direction to follow to return to it.

This feature is particularly useful for marking a **takeoff**, **landing**, **retrieve point**, or for **emergency use**.

Only one point can be stored at a time; each new point replaces the previous one.

The last recorded point remains saved even after the instrument is turned off.

#### **Instrument menus**

The following screens correspond to the main menus:

**Flight log**

Allows access to the list of flights stored in the instrument.

⚠️ **Important note:** Unlike previous-generation instruments, flights are no longer deleted after being transferred to a computer. The instrument automatically deletes the oldest flights when the memory is full.

#### Setting

Allows access to the main instrument settings (see corresponding section):

* sound volume,
* variometer thresholds,
* zeroing function,
* Bluetooth,
* backlight,
* language.

Advanced settings are available via the **Syride Link** software on a computer or the mobile application.

#### Shutdown

This menu allows you to turn off the instrument.

If a flight is being recorded, a confirmation will be requested to prevent accidental shutdown.
