Important Warnings and Safety Instructions

The practice of free flight and ULM is potentially dangerous and can lead to serious injuries, paralysis or even death. When you fly, you must be fully aware of the risks involved.

Read and follow these safety instructions carefully before using your Syride instrument. Failure to comply may compromise your safety and void any right to claim in the event of an incident.

Proper Use and Responsibilities :

Syride instruments are intended for free flight and ULM activities. Any other use is the responsibility of the user, releasing Syride, its distributors or resellers from any liability, claim or compensation request for misuse.

Any pilot must hold the required license or certificate in their country and have adequate liability insurance to fly. Make sure you have the skills and knowledge necessary to fly and use the instrument. Only fly if you are physically and mentally fit. The instrument must be used only by trained and competent individuals, in accordance with local and national regulations.

Preparations and Maintenance :

Check that the instrument is working properly before each flight. Never fly with damaged or improperly positioned equipment. Ensure that weather conditions are suitable for your level of piloting. NEVER fly in dangerous conditions (e.g.: strong wind, storms, fog, rain, snow, turbulent conditions or in clouds). Use only certified equipment (wing, harness and reserve parachute) and appropriate protective equipment (e.g.: helmet…).

Make sure the product is properly secured before takeoff to avoid losing the product during flight. Syride cannot be held responsible for the loss and consequences of the instrument falling to the ground. Syride also cannot be held responsible for theft of the instrument or damage during its use (e.g.: water ingress, shocks, crushing during transport, etc.).

Flight Safety and Responsibilities :

Do not use the instrument for aerobatic flights, flights without visibility or at night. Always pay close attention to the weather before taking off, to your surroundings, and to the terrain you will be flying over to prevent collisions. If in doubt, do not fly and always allow a large safety margin in your decisions.

In the event of a critical instrument malfunction, shorten the flight as soon as possible or, if necessary, separate yourself from the instrument.

The instrument may at any time display false information, shut down or malfunction. It is imperative that the flight can continue safely without using the information provided by the instrument. The information provided by the instrument should be considered only as flight assistance and must not in any case be essential to the proper conduct or safety of the flight. Erroneous or inaccurate data may result either from the inherent inaccuracy of the system or sensors (for example, GPS accuracy, pressure sensor or terrain database data), or from a software bug. The ability to fly safely without relying on this information is essential, emphasizing the importance of not considering this equipment as infallible or as the sole source of navigation and decision-making. It is the pilot's responsibility to prepare their flight with information from official sources. For example, the airspace alert function is only an aid to piloting; the pilot remains solely responsible for any infringements.

We recommend using 2 instruments of different designs in flight to benefit from redundancy of information.

Use only accessories and spare parts supplied by Syride. Contact Syride support immediately if you have any doubts about the use or proper functioning of the instrument.

Storage and Handling :

The instrument must be stored in an environment that is neither too hot nor too cold. Avoid exposure to temperatures above 40°C or below -10°C, especially by leaving it in direct sunlight or in the trunk of a sun-exposed car.

Do not open the instrument as this voids the warranty.

If the instrument comes into contact with water, wait at least 24 hours before attempting to turn it on and contact Syride support.

Updates and Emergency Procedures :

Regularly install software updates to maintain the instrument's effectiveness. Prepare and familiarize yourself with emergency procedures appropriate to possible failures or critical situations in flight (emergency landing, rapid descent, flying without instruments, fire).

Data Loss :

Data loss on the instrument (e.g.: flights, configuration, navigation route, beacons…) or on the online flight logbook (user profile, live, recorded flights…) is always possible. The user must be aware of this and take necessary measures to have external backups in addition to those offered by Syride. Syride cannot be held responsible for the consequences of this loss.

Risks and Consequences of Incorrect Use :

Incorrect use or failure to comply with these instructions can lead to serious, potentially fatal accidents. Syride, its distributors or resellers disclaim all liability for direct or indirect damages resulting from misuse.

Battery :

This product uses a lithium-ion battery. Avoid exposing it to temperatures above 40°C (120°F).

For battery longevity and maintenance, store it at about 70% of its capacity and perform a charge/discharge cycle every 6 months. Use an appropriate charger and the cable supplied with the instrument.

Batteries can present risks of fire, release of toxic gases, burns and explosion. Neglected maintenance can increase the risk of failure.

A full inspection of the instrument by Syride and battery replacement is recommended at least every 5 years.

If leakage occurs and you come into contact with the liquid escaping from the battery, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor immediately. For safety reasons and to prolong battery life, charging can only be performed within an ambient temperature range.

Temperatures: standard operation: 0°C (32°F) to +45°C (113°F); short-term storage: -20°C (-4°F) to 60°C (140°F); long-term storage: -20°C (-4°F) to 25°C (77°F).

Do not extract or attempt to extract the battery without Syride's agreement. There is a risk of explosion if the battery is replaced with an incorrect one. In case of battery problems, please contact Syride support immediately.

Notice to users regarding the collection and disposal of used batteries and electrical and electronic equipment.

THE LITHIUM-ION BATTERY AND THE ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT CONTAINED IN THIS PRODUCT CANNOT BE ADDED TO HOUSEHOLD WASTE.

To allow proper recycling, please take it to a suitable collection point.

Directive 2002/96/EC applies within the European Union. To know the procedure applicable in countries outside the European Union, please consult the competent local authorities.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RECHARGE IT WITH ANY USB CABLE OTHER THAN THE ONE PROVIDED BY SYRIDE. RATING: 5VDC 500mA.
