XVII. Navigation: Airspaces

Airspace alert management

The Evo V2 alerts you in two ways:

  • Pre-violation: when you approach an airspace (with adjustable thresholds).

  • Violation: when you enter an airspace.

The pre-violation alert is there to prevent you from intruding into a zone. The alert thresholds (horizontal and vertical) can be configured from the Link software or the Syride app.

The information popup

A pre-violation alert triggers an audible alarm (siren + voice) and a visual popup:

The top banner displays the name of the airspace (e.g. "RMZ Grenoble...").

  • Background white : pre-violation

  • Background black : violation

Then the following are displayed:

  • Your position relative to the zone (inside / outside)

  • The class of the zone (e.g. "P")

  • Its vertical limits : lower (e.g. 0 m or GND = ground) and upper (e.g. 823 m)

  • Your current altitude (e.g. 419 m)

Two graphic views accompany these data, with your position at the center:

  • On the left, a profile view with the zone in gray, the ground (in black if visible), and your glide ratio (if the vario is negative)

  • On the right, a top view with a dotted line showing, if you are inside the zone, the shortest path to get out

Three buttons are offered:

  1. Disable the zone for 12 hours (it disappears from maps and views)

  2. Disable alerts for this zone for 10 minutes

  3. Close the popup (the zone remains active)

In any case, a click on a button closes the popup.

⚠️ Important notes:

  • the scale of the graphic zones depends on the pre-violation thresholds you have set.

  • If the airspace is quoted in AGL (height above ground), your displayed altitude will also be above ground.

The "airspaces" submenu of the navigation menu

To view the list of nearby zones:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom to open the menus

  2. Click on Navigation, then on Airspaces

This menu allows you to:

  • permanently enable/disable a zone (1st column)

  • temporarily disable a zone for the next 12 hours (2nd column)

  • to disable/enable all zones via the button with the control tower.

⚠️ Important notes:

  • A disabled zone no longer appears on the map, the 3D, alerts, etc.

  • Actions are preserved after restart. If you disable a zone in the morning, it will remain disabled in the afternoon.

  • Adding a new airspace file resets all disabling.

  • Zones with more than 512 points will not be displayed.

Update airspaces

To update the airspaces on your Evo V2:

  1. Download the OpenAir file for your country

  2. Connect the Evo V2 via USB

  3. In the Link software, click on "Send a file"

  4. Select the downloaded OpenAir file

⚠️ Important notes. Here is some useful information regarding the use of airspaces:

  • The data contained in the airspace files you download are not official, you cannot use your Evo as a primary means of navigation. Refer to official aeronautical information sources (http://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/ for France). As these files are generally provided free of charge by federations, the information they contain is not guaranteed and we disclaim any liability regarding their use.

  • We advise you to check the file version that you are going to load. Airspaces evolve regularly. In addition, zones can change class depending on the time of year and time of day and may not be visible on the instrument (e.g. Chambéry TMA which changes from class D to class E).

  • A flight preparation and knowledge of the regulations are essential.

  • Temporary prohibited zones may exist and not appear on the instrument. They are reported as NOTAMs (Notice To Airmen) or Sup AIP and are available in France on the government S.I.A. website (http://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/)

  • In France, VFR flights without radio are limited to FL115 (about 3450 m). It is possible to fly above, in zones called LTA of class E (Vanoise, Bauges, Mont-Blanc...). You must consult the regulations of each country to obtain local rules.

  • You can import your own files if they are in OpenAir format

  • Zones located >5000 ft above you are not displayed

  • The list of zones around your position is updated every 2 minutes

  • Zones with >150 points are not visible in 3D.

  • Zones in AGL may be visually less precise, but the alerts remain reliable.
