# XXII.	Practical usage tips

* **We recommend turning on your Evo during your preflight so the GPS can get a fix at the moment of takeoff.**
* Polarized sunglasses reduce **glare** on the screen.
* A wrist strap helps to **secure** your instrument to prevent losing it in flight.
* **VHF (radio) waves and magnets** present in the harness can disturb GPS reception (altitude / track / speed / glide ratio…) as well as the magnetic compass.
* An internal protection automatically cuts the instrument’s battery power in case of **excessive temperature** (the instrument may not start if it has been left too long in direct sun or in a vehicle).
* If your instrument is very hot and you fly into very cold air (thermal shock), condensation may appear on the screen. It will dissipate within about ten minutes.
* **Factory reset** available from the instrument or the Link software restores your instrument’s default configuration (note, this action will delete flights, display configuration and usage settings, etc.). Same in the menu **Settings / Advanced settings** of the instrument. (see XIII: Advanced settings).
